MiArt 2024: No Time No Space
It feeds on transversal imagery the new edition coming in April 2024 of miart-this year in conjunction with MIA Photo Fair-and director Ricciardi outlines its directions, ranging from suggestions of music, poetry, and cinema to the idea of opening portals and dialogues, back and forth in time and space, in a "maelstrom of creative energies at the service of the city."
Starting with the very title for this year's review, no time no space, which borrows the words of a famous Franco Battiato song to signal the intention to cross thematic, spatial and temporal boundaries and the projection and propagation of the fair throughout the city. With new galleries, new curated sections, additional prizes for acquisitions and commissions, and unprecedented art projects spread throughout the city, Miart 2024 bets on the growth of the path initiated by Nicola Ricciardi since 2020 and adds an acceleration of pace along the plotted course.
News coming soon
Miart 's emphasis in 2024 remains on Italian galleries, which account for more than half of the total number of selected exhibitors and become the root and core of the entire fair.
Many returns but also debuts and new entries, both for them and their colleagues from abroad such as Helena Anrather (New York), Galerie Buchholz (Cologne, Berlin), Emanuela Campoli (Paris, Milan), Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro), greengrassi (London), Georg Kargl Fine Arts (Vienna), KOW (Berlin), Fabienne Levy (Lausanne, Geneva), Galerie Neu (Berlin), Nosbaum Reding (Luxembourg, Brussels), Dawid Radziszewski (Warsaw), Super Dakota (Brussels) and Galerie Tschudi (Zuoz, Zurich), among others.
For the sections, alongside the reconfirmed Established and Emergent, 2024 will see the debut of two focuses, Portal Timescape, which expand the chronological span of the fair and offer an anachronistic look at the flow of time. If the first, Portal, curated by Julieta González and Abaseh Mirvali, will see twelve galleries propose ten exhibitions within the main section, the second, Timescape, takes the form of a thematic exhibition project that will unfold over the next three years through different historical eras, in a journey through time that this year kicks off with a lunge at the early twentieth century.

The programming of Milan Art Week
Among Miart 's cornerstones is no shortage of collaboration with Milan's art institutions, which will take shape in projects orchestrated during the fair and in Milan Art Week, April 8-14, 2024.
The schedule of exhibitions and initiatives coordinated by the Culture Department of the City of Milan will involve, among others, PAC Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea, Museo del Novecento, Palazzo Reale, GAM Galleria d'Arte Moderna and MUDEC Museo delle Culture, along with Fondazione Prada, Fondazione Prada Osservatorio, Pirelli HangarBicocca, Triennale Milano, Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, BASE Milano, Fondazione ICA Milano and Fondazione Luigi Rovati.
Collaborations and awards
Also longstanding and reconfirmed in 2024 is miart's collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo Group, the fair's main partner, to which it will contribute an exhibition dedicated to young emerging artists curated by Luca Beatrice and the presentation of wealth management and art advisory activities.
The new sections will also be matched by new prizes that will complement those confirmed by previous editions: Fondazione Fiera Milano Acquisition Fund worth 100.000 euros; Herno Prize for the best booth project; LCA Studio Legale Prize for the Emergent section; the second edition of the Henraux Sculpture Commission Foundation, the Orbital Cultura - Nexi Group Prize dedicated to photography and the Massimo Giorgetti Prize, founder of the fashion brand MSGM; the Matteo Visconti di Modrone Prize in memory of the President of the Battaglia Artistic Foundry; Rotary Club Milano Brera Prize for Contemporary Art and Young Artists; IKONIC Prize, in its first edition for the debutant Portal section.
New additions also include a collaboration with music publisher SZ Sugar (part of Caterina Caselli and Filippo Sugar's SugarMusic group), for the first edition of the SZ Sugar miart commission, underscoring the dialogue between the fair and the music world.
