Standards of excellence along the entire coast
The agency recently delivered the results of the analyses to the Regional Council for approval. These analyses were carried out before the official start of the bathing season, which runs from May 1 to September 30, and cover a wide range of points along Puglia's coastline, excluding areas permanently banned from bathing due to the presence of discharges, industrial plants or ports.
ARPA's analyses mainly concern bacteriological and chemical water pollution. The data presented show that along the region's 940 kilometers of coastline and in the hundreds of sampling points examined, there are no bathing spots with "insufficient" water quality. In other words, almost all of the monitored points enjoy water quality that meets or exceeds the necessary standards for bathing.
Water quality in the Bari area
Particularly significant is the fact that in the Barese area, all sampling points surveyed have "excellent" quality, with the exception of only one point in Molfetta, located 500 meters south of the city sewer, which has a quality rated as "good."
The data provided by ARPA Puglia for 2024 are a clear indication of the success of the environmental policies and monitoring systems in place in the region. With the almost total promotion of bathing water quality along its coastline, Apulia is confirmed as an ideal destination for those who wish to enjoy crystal-clear sea and pristine beaches.
