The seabed of Porto Cesareo
Work has been going on for some time in Porto Cesareo along the coast and in the seabed to protect and value the biodiversity and ecosystems that populate the Marine Protected Area and to try to make human presence coexist with this delicate habitat.
Interventions have been many and varied in scale, both on the sandbar and in the water, to secure and repopulate this truly enchanting stretch of sea. Here hundreds of species of marine flora and fauna coexist in a very delicate balance. Linea Blu with its crew went to explore this spectacle of nature among poseidonia meadows, corals and underwater caves.

Torre Lapillo and coastal regeneration
In technical terms it's called restoration, meaning restoration, and in Italy we are an undisputed excellence in coastal renaturation techniques. This is precisely what is happening in the area of Torre Lapillo, the beautiful seaside resort at the northern end of Porto Cesareo.
Here, Linea Blu reports on the very important work being done in the area that involves restoring the coast as it was originally: populated by beautiful Mediterranean scrub and coastal vegetation. The greenery naturally limits the erosive process caused by urbanization and enhances the coastal landscape in all its natural beauty.
At school for the environment under the blue umbrella
Among the virtuous activities recounted in the episode of Linea Blu dedicated to Porto Cesareo on RaiPlay is the beautiful Ombrellone Blu initiative. Proposed by the Porto Cesareo Marine Protected Area entity with the aim of raising awareness among children and adults about the proper relationship with the sea, the project teaches that the sea should be protected and not simply enjoyed and exploited.
And so it is under the umbrella that fundamental issues such as marine garbage and the devastating consequences it has on the creatures that populate the sea are addressed.
Through beach play and educational workshops, children gain a proper awareness of certain phenomena and problems that affect the delicate coastal ecosystem.

The future Archaeological Marine Park of Porto Cesareo
The seabed of Porto Cesareo is not only a treasure chest of natural beauty but also tells long-standing stories. They have concealed for centuries so much evidence of man's passage over these lands.
Just in front of the coast, in fact, several stretches with ancient settlements and submerged necropolis have been found. Such as the famous five cipolin marble columns dating back to the 2nd century AD placed at a depth of just four and a half meters. In all likelihood they fell into the water due to a strong swell that sank a boat from the Greek island of Euboea in the Aegean Sea, inside which were crammed artifacts of all kinds.
The idea pursued by the Archaeological Park is tomake these wonders accessible to as many people as possible. Also through augmented reality that will literally make these treasures emerge from the depths.
Around Porto Cesareo
Linea Blu proceeds by expanding its radius around the area of Porto Cesareo and Salento and shows, once again, viewers the beauty seen from the kayak of Porto Selvaggio and its coastline ideal for the monk seal's settlement. The grandeur and uniqueness of the Zinzulusa cave near Castro and again the Adriatic coast of Salento from San Foca to Torre dell'Orso, a land of stories, legends and good food.
